A new flagship in the picker

Claude Opus 4.8 — Anthropic's most capable model — is now selectable everywhere Weblab talks to an AI. Open the model picker from the hero prompt on the home page, or from the chat panel inside the editor, and Opus 4.8 sits at the top of the Claude lineup.

It joins, rather than replaces, Claude Opus 4.7. Pick 4.8 for the hardest problems — multi-file refactors, dense reasoning, gnarly debugging — and drop back to a faster model when you don't need the extra horsepower. If you leave the picker on Auto, Weblab now routes the most demanding edits to Opus 4.8 on your behalf.

Why it matters

The model you run is the ceiling on what Weblab can do. A stronger flagship means:

  • Better one-shot edits. Fewer back-and-forth turns to get a component right.
  • Stronger reasoning on big changes. Cross-file work holds together more often.
  • The same workflow. Nothing to install or configure — it's just there in the dropdown.

A small polish pass too

While adding the model we tidied the picker itself: the real Claude sunburst mark now stands in for the old Anthropic glyph, hovering a model shows a clear highlight, and the model titles are a touch tighter so the list reads cleanly.

Open the picker and give Opus 4.8 a try on your next build.
